The Mexican Energy Opportunities Summit: Oil, Gas, Power, held April 28-30 in Mexico City, provided a comprehensive look at the important structural changes in the nation’s energy industry.
California Oil and Gas Report was a co-sponsor of the Summit, which explored current and future opportunities for companies in oil, gas and power, and how to maximize the opportunities made possible by the historic reforms in Mexico’s energy sector.
The Summit, organized by InfoCast, included information tracks on opportunities in oil and gas, and in electric power generation and distribution, as well as a briefing on doing business in Mexico.
Oil & Gas Track: Implementing the Energy Reform. The Oil &Gas track provided a complete look at opportunities in the entire oil and gas supply chain, how to best prepare for first-ever bidding round of exploration and production blocks in Mexico, and best practices from US shale plays.
Electricity Track: Establishing New Market Rules and Structures. The Electricity track explored the structural changes in the electric sector, how they will affect current energy market players, and opportunities for new market participants. The track provided the latest information on electricity sector reforms, including new bidding processes, implementing an independent system operator and establishing Mexico’s first electricity market.
The Pre-Summit Briefing, Doing Business in Mexico: A Guide for International Companies, prepared companies on how to navigate the newly reformed energy landscape and bring new business to Mexico.
