A panel discussion on hydraulic fracturing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, at California State University–Fullerton. The California Independent Petroleum Association (CIPA) is encouraging its members to attend and participate.
The symposium will be presented at Titan Student Union at Cal State Fullerton. Admission and parking is free. Those wishing to attend can RSVP online. Questions can be submitted beforehand, or at the event.
The organizers say the purpose of the symposium is to provide local policy makers and the public with objective, impartial information about the environmental impact of oil extraction in north Orange County.
The panel will feature experts in seismology, hydrogeology, air quality and environmental geology. They will speak about the potential impact of oil pumping, including fracking, on groundwater, earthquake hazard and water quality.
Local representatives of the oil industry will present information about oil drilling activity in north Orange County.
Representatives of the California Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Energy Resources (DOGGR) will discuss regulatory and policy aspects of oil drilling.
The CSU Fullerton Symposium on hydraulic fracturing is co-sponsored by the cities of Brea, Fullerton, La Habra, Yorba Linda, La Habra Heights and Placentia
A live videocast of the symposium is scheduled to be presented on the day of the event.
